Problem Description
Missing textures for SketchUp models in MicroStation
Steps to Resolve
1.Check how the materials are set in SketchUp.
In SketchUp faces have two sides: a front one and a back one. Therefore, SketchUp enables to add two different materials to one face. If Sketchup model was created with two materials per face, MicroStation will properly import just first one.
The red arrow on the image below indicates material which is set up for front face of polygon. If the face has also set up different texture for back side, it will be ignored during import to MicroStation.
2. Add the SketchUp model to the MicroStation’s drawing as a cell.
A. Drawing ->Annotate -> Cells
B. Cell Library -> File -> Attach file -> select SketchUp file
C. Set Active Cell
D. Place Active Cell
3. Check if the textures were unpacked to the location: C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Temp\Bentley\MicroStation\10.0.0y
SketchUp files contain all needed images for defined materials. After added SketchUp model in MicroStation all textures are unpacked and stored at the specified.
4. If the textures are still not visible on the model, drop Shared Cell to Normal Cell.
The below video is showing the workflow in MicroStation.
