Jacket platforms used offshore for oil extraction are generally temporarily supported by mudmats during installation. These platforms are not always installed on virgin seabed but are sometimes located close to features such as pug marks formed by previous deployments of jack-up rigs. These seabed features potentially influence the bearing capacity of the mudmats and need to be accounted for in the stability verification.
