How to change or remove the 'Unit' label when placing a Text Field that picks up on Element Properties, such as the length of a Line or its Start and End points X,Y,Z coordinates.
Background
When placing a Text Field based on an Elements Properties the 'Coordinate Format' options in the Field Editor dialog can be used to control the 'Label Format' when placed along with the required Units to be used.
Steps to Accomplish
To Place a Text Field without Unit Label.
- Open the Text Editor dialog
- Select Insert Field on the Text Editor dialog (or can edit an existing Field)
- Select 'Element Properties' followed by 'OK' and select the element in the Design
- In the Field Editor dialog select the Required Geometry ('Length' in this instance) and note the 'Preview: at the bottom of the dialog. By default, this is showing the Active Settings.

In the Field Editor dialog under the heading 'Linear Units Format' select the (Use Active Settings) field next to the option 'Label Format' and select the expand icon, to see the options available. Select either 'MU', 'SU' or 'MU SU' to display the Master, Sub or both Units only.

Note the Preview: at the bottom of the Field Editor dialog is changed to reflect the selected Label and Unit Format. Once the format is as required select 'OK' to return to the Text Editor dialog.
To Change a Text Field Label with specified Units
- Follow steps 1-4 above to open the Field Editor

Select either 'MU Label', 'SU Label' or 'MU SU Label' to display the Master, Sub or both Units only. (In this Example we will use 'MU Label')

Select the (Use Active Settings) field next to the option 'Master Units' and select the expand icon followed by selecting the required units. (Inches in this example)

Note the Preview: at the bottom of the Field Editor dialog is changed to reflect the selected Label and Unit Format. Once the format is as required select 'OK' to return to the Text Editor dialog.
If 'SU Label' was selected in step 2, then the units would be controlled by the 'Sub Units' field
