The Situation

Have you wanted to document your CADD standards resources such as Levels or Text Styles, but were not certain how to go about it?

Solution

Easily document your CADD standards using Explorer.

While there can be a variety of ways to accomplish portions of this task, Explorer in the MicroStation CONNECT Edition can be used to quickly and easily document the various CADD Standards that are in use within your organization.

The following set of steps can be used to review your current set of resources:

    1. Open Explorer.
    2. Expand the Resources tab.
    3. Select the resource(s) that you wish to review.
    4. Right-click on this resource to display the right-click menu.
    5. From the right-click menu, pick Details.
    6. Set the display of the Details:
      • In the Details dialog, place the cursor in the upper left cell.
      • Right-click to open the right-click menu.
      • From the right-click menu, in Show Columns, enable/disable the display of the visible columns as desired (this can be easily done by clicking More). You may also reorder the column display.
      • Click OK.
    7. Export the Details:
      • In the Details dialog, place the cursor in the upper left cell.
      • Right-click to open the right-click menu.
      • From the right-click menu, pick Export.
      • Set the Save as type to Excel Workbook (*.xlsx).
      • Type in the desired name for the Excel workbook.
      • Browse to the desired folder in which to save the file.
      • Click Save.

Note: Explorer, and the Resources tab in the Explorer dialog, can be used to do more than simply review the set of resources. Explorer features a useful Search capability, can be used to activate a setting or tool, and much more.
