MicroStation CONNECT Edition Update 7 and later versions introduce a Technology Preview which allow Bing Maps use as a Background Map for all connected users (http://www.bentley.com/bentleyuserregistration).
This functionality is slightly different than attaching Bing Maps as a live raster image.
You can set the Background Maps from the View Attributes dialog in the Background Map section.
The simplified method allows Street Map, Aerial, or Hybrid imagery.

The requirements for this functionality are
1. Have Geographical Coordinate System (GSC) attached
2. Good internet connection
3. User must be signed into the CONNECTION Client. Note that a Bing Maps Key is not required for this functionality.

Bing Maps usage is subject to Microsoft's Terms of Use https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/maps/product.
In particular, there are some restrictions on printing.
For details, refer to the web page https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/maps/product/print-rights

Steps to Accomplish

1. Open a design file
2. Attach a GCS
3. From the View Attributes dialog, change Background Map Type from None to Street Map, Aerial Imagery, or Hybrid Imagery. The Transparency of the Background Map can be changed as well. Some versions of CONNECT also contained an Elevation Offset setting.
