Design previews are not visible on the Work Page

 Product(s):MicroStation
 Version(s):10.15.02.11
 Environment:N\A
 Area:GUI
 Subarea:Backstage

Problem

The Work Page is no longer displaying design previews.

Background

The preview images shown on the Work Page are Thumbnails created from a Saved View, their may be a couple of reasons for them not to display. It could be that you or you Site Administrator has disabled their creation, or you have disabled their display in your Personal Preferences with a new setting introduced in MicroStation CONNECT Edition Update 14.

Solution

If using MicroStation CONNECT Edition Update 14 or later, first check the ‘Hide Thumbnail View’ switch in your Personal Preferences. To do this

  1. Open a design file in MicroStation
  2. Open your Personal Preferences (File > Settings > User > Preferences)
  3. On the Preferences dialog under the Category column select ‘Look and Feel’
  4. Check the switch ‘Hide Thumbnail View’ is disabled.

If the ‘Hide Thumbnail View’ is disabled. Then the Thumbnails (Saved Views) may not have been created. In this case check the Configuration Variable MS_THUMBNAIL
  1. Open a design file in MicroStation
  2. Open the Configuration variables dialog (File > Settings > Configuration > Configuration Variables)
  3. Enter MS_THUMBNAIL in the search to see if it’s been defined

Consult with your Site Administrator before making changes to Configuration.
