Reprojecting to a new Geographic Coordinate System

Background

Reproject data from an existing Geographic Coordinate System (GCS) to another

Steps to Accomplish

  1. Within your MicroStation session launch the Geographic Coordinate System dialog. 

    (from the ribbon search (F4) key-in Coordinate System)

  2. Note the existing Geographic Coordinate System assigned to the file.   If no initial coordinate system is assigned, no reprojection will occur to the desired coordinate system.

  3. Select the From Library icon

  4. The Select Geographic Coordinate System dialog displays.  Browse the library (tab) or use the search (tab) to locate the desired GCS for assignment to the file.  

  5. Select the desired coordinate system and select OK

  6. The Geographic Coordinate System Changed dialog will propmpt you with options suited to the current scenario.  In this example, a to ask if you are correcting or reprojecting the Geographic Coordinate System (see image).  

  7. Choose 'Reproject the data to the new Geographic Coordinate System'

  8. Click on OK
