Problem

Unable to open seed file: seed.dwg

When saving as a DWG in MicroStation V8, error message is displayed:

"unable to open seed file: <seed file name>".

Even though MS _DWGSEED is set to a valid path, the error continues to display.

Solution

MS_DWGSEED is not set to a valid path.

Possible reasons:
1 - The file specified in configuration variable MS_DWGSEED is not a valid path to the seed file.

Solution:
Change MS_DWGSEED to a valid seed file.

2 - If the location was defined in DWG options, it will be stored in the dwg data files and the configuration variable will not be applied.

Solution:
Open DWG options and change "DWG Seed File" to a valid location and seed file name.

3 - The DWG seed file was set to a DGN format file.

Solution:
Open DWG options and change "DWG Seed File" to a valid seed file that has the DWG file format.

Note:
If DWG data files are replaced with new ones, the MS_DWGSEED will again be used to define the location of the DWG seed file.
