How to save a newly created PDF file to a local directory instead of to a Projectwise data source location. When selecting the Print Menu to save the PDF, then clicking CANCEL on the Projectwise menu to allow the PDF to be saved to a local directory, the option to save to a local directory does not appear. The Print Menu reappears and never allows the user to specify a local directory.
In windows explorer go to C:\Program Files\Bentley\ProjectWise\bin
Open mcm.cfg in notepad
Look for the variable PW_CAPTIVEENVIRONMENT = 1 and make sure there is a # sign in front of the line.
If there is a # sign in front of the line, then that means the variable is not in use
#PW_CAPTIVEENVIRONMENT = 1
If there is no # sign and it is set to =1, when you hit save in a Microstation file and then hit cancel to the ProjectWise dialog, it will take you back to the drawing and not give you the Microstation manager.
PW_CAPTIVEENVIRONMENT = 1
