How can the icon sizes of Toolboxes in MicroStation be set?

Background

In MicroStation V8i & later versions, it is now possible to modify the size of icons in toolboxes.

Steps to Accomplish

Tool Box Tool Size - Look and Feel User Preference Setting

Sets the size, in pixels, of tool icons in Toolboxes

1. Go to File > Settings > User > Preferences (in CONNECT, 2023, etc.) || Go to Workspace > Preferences (in MicroStation v8i SS10)
2. Select the 'Look and Feel' Category
3. Set the desired size for 'Tool Box Tool Size'. Options are as follows:

• • Small (16 x 16)
  • Medium (24 x 24) — the default setting
  • Large (32 x 32)

***Remember to Save Settings after making changes***

View Tool Size

Sets the size, in pixels, of tool icons in toolboxes docked to open view windows. The effect of this setting is visible only when the View Tool Box option in the Preferences > View Options Category is on.

1. Go to File > Settings > User > Preferences (in CONNECT, 2023, etc.) || Go to Workspace > Preferences (in MicroStation v8i SS10)
2. Select the 'View Options' Category
3. For View Tool Box option, define the desired location (default is Top)

1. Back in Preferences dialog, select the 'Look and Feel' category
2. Set the desired size for 'View Tool Size'

• • Small (16 x 16) — the default
  • Medium (24 x 24)
  • Large (32 x 32)

Remember to Save Settings (Ctrl + F).
