Problem

Error Opening File.

Solution

Applying these solutions has been effective in addressing this error message.

  1. Launch MicroStation with administrative privileges.
  2. Right-click on MicroStation icon and select "Run as administrator" from the context menu.
  3. Create a new UPF file and/or perform Restore Defaults
  4. Most Users have reported this error when opening files from Project Wise with a Managed WorkSpace. Work with your Project Wise Administrator and apply the following solutions.
    • Make sure the file or project is configured to pick up the correct Managed WorkSpace.
    • Check In or Free all Checked Out documents.
    • Select the file in Project Wise explorer and perform Purge Local and/or Purge WorkSpace
    • In some cases, deleting the Project folder in your local working directory has fixed the issue.
    • Do check the CHKLCLEANUP utility.
