Problem Description

When I try to import any STEP file the function will crash MicroStation after pressing the OK button in the dialog.

Steps to Resolve

Check the configuration variable MS_DATA. It can be found in pulldown menu Workspace, option Configuration. In the dialog search it at the top right field, where the variables are listed alphabetically.
This variable is set by MicroStation (system) and will point to ..\Workspace\system\data\. If it points to another directory, the STEP export function may not find the files it needs for running. The problem will occur too if the files were removed from there.
Just delete MS_DATA. It will re-appear with the correct path next time, when the drawing is re-opened. Or take care, that the right files are in this directory.
