How can you hollow out an existing solid?
Use the Shell Solid tool in MicroStation.
Navigate to
Modeling Workflow > Solids Tab > Features Ribbon Group > Shell
Once the tool is selected, identify the solid that you want to shell with a left click.
Then, select the face(s) you want to remove with a left click. Multiple faces can be selected and removed by holding down CTRL key when selecting.
BEFORE AFTER
The resulting solid will change to a Parametric Solid.
If the Legacy Shell Solid tools are used, then the resulting solid will be a Smart Solid.
