MicroStation CONNECT Edition Further Troubleshooting and Know Errors

The following document offers some steps to Troubleshoot common problems encountered when installing MicroStation CONNECT Edition along with some known issues.

Please consult with your IT or CAD/SITE Administrator if you have one prior to making any changes.

CHECK SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

The first step with any application installation trouble shooting is to ensure the version being installed is compatible with the platform on which it is to be run.

In addition to this that it’s also compatible with other required applications such as ProjectWise.

INSTALLATION METHOD REQUIREMENTS

Having identified the correct version, the next step is understanding how the application is being installed, the method used may determine the cause of a problem

That said of course some issues encountered may be generic irrespective of the method chosen.

Here are some Common Generic Issues:

Check you have access to the correct Installation files
Check you have Permission to Install Software
Check you have Permission to write to install locations and there is enough space
Check you have Internet access, to allow the installation of Prerequisites (If not, obtain and install from a Deployment image)
Check Antivirus Software is not blocking installation
Check if Windows User Profile related
If upgrading via CONNECTION CLIENT, Run the health Check to see if any problems, also Check Logs for any reported issues during install

TYPE OF INSTALLATION

Another influence on the types of issue encountered may be down to if it’s a new Install, an upgrade of existing version or upgrade from an older version.

New installs being more straight forward, but if upgrading whilst the install may appear to go well, it could be that the previous version files were left behind and hinder the functionality.
