View Automated Defect Detection

Upcoming Changes to AI Detection

A new version of the AI Detection feature was launched in July. It is a foundational step to incorporate AI-driven insights directly into inspection processes. This sets the stage for smarter, more automated workflows that reduce manual effort. As part of this rollout, the AI Detection viewer will be deprecated on October 31st.

What’s Changing?

  • Data Reset: Existing AI Detection results will not be retained; a new AI detection will need to be rerun with the new version.
  • Entry-point: To ensure tighter integration and a more streamlined experience, AI Detections are now launched from the Inspection viewer.
  • Crack Detail Table: This view is not yet available in the new version. We understand this may impact how you use detection results and are planning to bring it back in a future update.
  • Limitaton: The new version is only supported in iTwins located in the East US and North Europe data centers. Support for more regions is under consideration for future updates.

We recognize that this new version may disrupt your existing workflow, and we appreciate your patience as we work toward a more unified and scalable solution. We appreciate your understanding and look forward to delivering a more powerful AI Detection experience.

Once the AI/ML defect detection is completed, you can access the results by clicking on the appropriate run. If the detection fails, you cannot enter the AI Detection view.

The AI Detection view is composed of three sections.

  1. 3D View
  2. Table View
  3. Control view (collapsable if necessary)

The 3D View shows the crack detection and the associated Reality Model. If you have multiple Reality Models, it will select the model corresponding to the selected 3SM at run time

Each crack is either selectable from the 3D View or from the Table View. When selecting a crack, it will automatically zoom you to its position on the 3D view and filter it in the Table View.

Multiple selections is also possible in the Table View by checking the desired checkboxes in each row or by grabbing multiple cracks in the 3D View using the right button mouse.

You can change the crack's width and color in your settings. Click on your profile in the upper right corner of the screen and access the User Settings.

Go to the AI Detection option on the left-hand menu.

There you can change line colors or line weight according to your viewing preferences. Once the selection is done, exit the window by clicking on the X top left corner.

Refresh the page to see the new selected color applied in the view.
