2D drawing generation and updating with hidden '***' parts

In the past, views or groups listed in the DetailCenter with “ *** ” alerted/warned you one or more object(s) of a view or group are hidden and cannot be processed or updated.

In SELECTseries 8, when one or more ProSteel or ProConcrete object(s) (this rule does not apply to rebar) either in the active view of a model or in a reference file are hidden, associated views or groups are flagged with "***" in the DetailCenter, alerting/warning you that one or more object lying within the ProStructures view or subpart(s) of a group are hidden and not visible, nevertheless they can be processed and can be updated, and it is up to you to take the appropriate action.

New dimensioning options for DetailStyle

Reference Files

ProStructures can now generate layout drawings (plans, elevations, sections, etc.) of models that have reference files attached. You have the option to see the content of the reference files in the engineering layout drawings.

Section Property Catalog Support

Hot rolled steel shapes from Bentley Structural Property Catalog (SPC) can now be used in ProStructures.

A mix of PS and SPC shapes can be used in the same model.

Classification Sorting

Display Class, Area Class, and Part Families dialogs have a new sorting feature. By clicking on column headings, the data listed in the dialog box will be sorted in descending order. Clicking the same column header a second time will sort the content in ascending order.

Convert/Upgrade Existing ProStructures Files to SELECTseries 8

A new conversion utility is included that Converts/Upgrades DGN or DWG files to the SELECTseries 8 file format. You can do it to individual files (upon opening) or to multiple files with the new Batch Processes utility.

Note: You do not need to convert single files in order to open them. Opening a file created in a previous version of ProStructures will prompt you to convert with the option to create a backup copy.

New Regen All Tool

This new tool is used to display all hidden classifications set in ProStructures.

Found in the ProStructures task group

Invoking this command turns on the object visibility of all PS/PC hidden by Area or Display class or by PS hide tools.

Note: The state of the entries in both Area and Display class will not change when using this command.

PS objects hidden using MS native tools are not affected and will not redisplay i.e.,

ProConcrete

CONNECT Services

CONNECT Services is now available on all V8i applications including ProConcrete. CONNECT Services provides a cloud-based technology that leverages Microsoft's Azure cloud services to connect all users (CONNECTED Users) across projects (CONNECTED Projects). These services can be used to store user account settings, project metadata, and published content.

IFC

IFC (CV2x3) for steel, concrete and rebar can now be generated/exported from ProStructures that is fully compliant with the IFC (CV2x3) standard.

Vary Sets

Vary Sets are common in trapezoid shaped (sections of) slabs or walls. Bars in these areas will vary in length at an even rate.

Vary Sets can also be detected in curved (sections of) slabs or walls. Bars in these areas will vary in length at a non-linear rate.

It is important to keep bars in Vary Sets grouped, or “bundled”, together for shipping and placement purposes.

Vary Sets are grouped together by means of their “Label Group” value. They are seen as Vary Sets when Labeling, Positioning, adding the BarFactory, and Part List.

Create Vary Set options are now found on the RebarSet related (Slab Reinforcing, Wall/Panel Reinforcing, Single RebarSet) dialogs, and the Irregular Dispatch dialog.

Apply Reinforcements to MicroStation/AECOsim Building Designer Concrete Solids/Forms

In ProStructures (SELECTseries 8), you no longer have to re-model concrete shapes with ProConcrete or convert MicroStation solids or use ISM (Structural Synchronizer) You can now add reinforcing steel directly to concrete elements from MicroStation, AECOsim Building Designer, or OpenBridge Modeler. And with the new reference file support, the requirement that rebar and concrete be in the same DGN file is eliminated.  You can now add reinforcing to concrete elements within an attached reference file.

In summary, ProStructures (SELECTseries 8) allows you to add reinforcing bars directly to any of the following:

Also, any or all of the concrete shapes can now exist in a reference file(s).

Therefore, for AECOsim Building Designer, Rebar Becomes a Full Participant in the BIM Process:

Note: To have good fidelity with ProConcrete objects on AECOsim, It is highly recommended to install ProStructures Plug-in for Bentley Products (v08.11.14.195)

Demonstration 1: Use ProConcrete SS8 to add reinforcing to your   AECOsim design models:

Demonstration #2: The rebar objects are parametric to the AECOsim concrete shapes – even across reference files.

Demonstration #3: Also reinforce complex MicroStation solids, OpenBridge Modeler solids, or IFC objects.

Demonstration #4: Produce bar schedules, detailed reinforcing drawings, even with the concrete in reference files.

Demonstration #5: Reference rebar in the AECOsim 3D model, view rebar properties, and show rebar in architectural drawings.

Bar Factory - Draping Bars

For the purpose of reducing fabrication costs, bars that are of sufficiently large length and/or* radius can be shipped as a straight bar and then “draped” or flexed and tied into place on site. All radii of the bar must exceed the Prefab Radius.

Rebar [Building] Codes define the maximum prefab length and/or* radius for bars that are to be pre-fabricated for each Bar Size. Any bar that exceeds the prefab length and/or* radius may be Shipped As Straight.

*and/or: The ACI Rebar Code considers Length AND Radius to determine whether a bar can be shipped straight. Other Rebar Codes consider Radius ONLY.

The installed RebarCode_*.xml files contain MaximumRadiusForBending values for maximum prefab radius of each Bar Size. The installed RebarCode_ACI_xx.xml files NOW contain the NEW value: MaximumLengthForBending for maximum prefab length of each Bar Size.

New Rebar Size and Material Options

To simplify rebar size and material options on placement dialogs, Bar Size is now separated from the Material Type and now have two combo boxes side-by-side. Now there is a list of Bar Sizes and a list of Grade/Coatings to choose from - although you won't always need to change both. These two combo boxes belong to one single class and work in tandem. RebarKey's will continue to be used and stored the same as they always have been, as a delimited string (eg: "6:60B").

These changes apply ONLY to Rebar Codes that use Bar Size, Grade, and Coating as separate values, currently ACI and RSIC. Other Rebar Codes will continue to display one combo box.

Note: Only Materials that are valid for the current Bar Size selection will be available on the Material combobox.
