Overview

There are some cases, users don't want to continue SELECT Contract and to switch to NON SELECT License. As soon as user's SELECT Contract get over, user come under NON SELECT Mode and the product will run for next 7 days trial period. When the trial is also over, it will then give a message to Activate the license. This document will explain how to activate the product in NON SELECT mode.

All version 8.9 or newer software is activated against a SELECTserver license server.

Activation of the software is achieved by entering a server name and site activation key into the product. This will user get from Bentley Licensing Team. The Server Name and Site activation key are entered into the "Product Activation Wizard" or into the “License Management Tool”.

For NON-SELECT users, the server name will be ProductActivation.bentley.com. 

Steps to Activate the License for NON-SELECT users

There are two ways on to Activate the Product.

      1. Via License management tool or 

      2. Via Product Activation Wizard

 You may be put straight into the “Product Activation Wizard”. If the Product Activation Wizard does not prompt upon launching the application, you can activate using the License Mangement Tool. 

1. Activating using the License Management Tool:

Please note that to activate the product, you need to have your Server name  (ProductActivation.bentley.com) and Activation key ready.

a) Open ProStructures and then Check the license settings, you can do this by.

• • Going to ProStructures dropdown menu > License selection OR
    
    
    
    
  • Type in the command line PS_LICENSE_TYPE

NOTE: It is important that you should check  this settings before activating the product. If the settings does not match with the license that you have, this will cause to give you a prompt to activate the license every time you open the software. 

b) For this scenario I have a valid license for ProSteel, but does not have a license for ProConcrete.

c) After checking the License type, close ProStructures.

d) Open License management tool to activate the product.

e) The License Management tool will open.  Then Go to > Tools > Options

f) You would need to key in your Site Activation as the Server name is filled in by default.  if you don't have Site activation key, you need to contact with license Administrator in Bentley to get the key.

g). Once you entered the Activation Key,  Click Test Connection. You should get this message.

• SELECTserver and Activation Key verified means you have a valid and  correct activation key 

Sometime you may get this message

• Server does not support this Activation key means you have an invalid or  wrong Activation key.

In that case re ensure the activation key, there should be no spaces before or after. If you have verified you have entered it correctly and still getting the same error please call the Technical Support hotline. You can't proceed with the product activation.

h) Once the Select Server and Activation key is verified Click OK. The list of available license will then be listed.

Note: NON Select / Node lock licensing you would need to check out license into your PC to activate the product.

With ProSteel you would need to check out the license for ProSteel and AutoPlant. However in later version (SELECTSeries 6 onwards, no need to Checkout AutpoPlant Structural Detailer.

i) To Check out the license you would need to select ProSteel or AutoPlant in any order and then you need to provide the Email Address and the Version. if you do not have the version available you need to go inside ProSteel and then in the command line type in PS_ABOUT to list the full version of ProStructures. Click ok to check out the license. 

j) If the Check Out is successful you should see the license showing at the bottom part of the License Management Tool.

k) The Product Activation is now complete you may use your product.

2. Activating using the product Activation Wizard:

a) By default after expiring your trial period, Product Activation Wizard will open and in that select NON - SELECt or Node Locked user

b) You will be definitely receive Activation key and for that you should select "I have an activation key.

c) Enter Server name as ProductActivation.bentley.com and the received key and then test connection. It will prompt with SELECTServer and Activation key verified.

d) In the next dialog enter your email address and Product name and product version.

e) After entering all these detail, you activation will be complete and you can then run your product till the next limit date.

In this way one can activate NODE - Lock license in his/her system.
