Overview

When modelling a structure, for aesthetic requirements you may need to create curtain walls or facades. This can be done very easily, and the created facades are also fully parametric in terms of insert positions and dimensional control along with layout.

This document will guide you on how to create and control various members of a facade.

Method

1) While in the model, go to Home > Structural Objects > Facade.

2) After this you need to select an insertion point for the facade, then it gets placed.

3) Along with this, the ‘Facade’ dialog box opens where you can then control its parameters. In the dimensions tab, you can specify the beams and column spacing in ‘number*spacing’ format.

4) Next, in the ‘Columns’ tab you can specify the column shapes from the available shapes list and also specify the position, rotation and offsets too.

5) Similarly, you can also set the same for beams in the facade.

6) In the ‘Panels’ tab you can set the thickness and offsets for the same.

7) Lastly, in the ‘Assignment’ tab you can classify the facade into various classes and descriptions for sorting purposes.

7) Then click on OK and the facade is created.

In this manner, one can create a facade and then control it para-metrically to suit one’s requirements.
