Overview

On some rare occasions, such as after a workstation power failure or an application crash, ProStructures application can refuse to start up correctly, either crashing or showing an error on file. In these scenarios, resetting ProStructures application to its factory defaults can resolve the issue.

NOTE: Please make a backup copy of your custom files that are present in the paths mentioned in Method I > step 5 or Method II > step 3.

Method

Please follow the below steps to achieve this.

Method 1: From Window's Run or Search Command

1. Close the ProStructures CONNECT Edition Application.

2. Press Windows Key + R to open the Run dialog box.

3. In the Run dialog box, click Browse and select ProStructures.exe from the location "C:\Program Files\Bentley\ProStructures CONNECT Edition\ProStructures\ProStructures.exe"

4. Place a Space after the "…\ProStructures.exe" and type -restoredefaults as shown in the below image and then click on the OK button.
E.g. "C:\Program Files\Bentley\ProStructures CONNECT Edition\ProStructures\ProStructures.exe" -restoredefaults

5. A Command window will open displaying the details of the operation:

Deleted C:\Users\Vyanktesh.Nama\AppData\Local\Bentley\ProStructures\10.0.0
Deleted C:\Users\Vyanktesh.Nama\AppData\Roaming\Bentley\ProStructures
Deleted C:\ProgramData\Bentley\ProStructures\10.0.0
Deleted C:\Users\Vyanktesh.Nama\AppData\Local\Temp\Bentley\ProStructures\10.0.0

Defaults restored. Press any key to exit.

6. Press any key to Exit.

Method 2: As a command line switch within the application Shortcut

1. Right-click on the ProStructures CONNECT Edition shortcut icon and open the Properties.

2. Go to the Shortcut tab and type " -restoredefaults" as shown in the below image (please note that there is a space between the end quotes and -restoredefaults) and then press Apply and OK.

3. Now, launch the ProStructures application with shortcut, a command window will open displaying the details of the following operations:

Defaults restored. Press any key to exit.

4. Press any key to Exit.

5. Now, again go to the Shortcut tab of the properties of the shortcut icon and remove the " -restoredefaults" and then click on the Apply & OK button.

In this way, by both the methods we can restore the ProStructures CONNECT Edition application to its default factory settings.
