Overview

This TechNote gives steps on producing an Isometric  view of a model in ProSteel and ProStructures where the lines of the hidden shapes will show Dashed.  This can be useful when needing to show the hidden lines in a layout created in AutoCAD while keeping the objects solid.

Steps to Create The Isometric view with the Dashed Lines

Here are the steps to create a 2D Isometric view of a ProSteel 3D model with the Hidden Lines displayed as Dashed.

  1. From the 3D Model, set your View in the position of the ISO you wish to create then launch the ProSteel 2D Detail Center. From the Detail Center, go to the Views Tab > Click on the button "To Create Manual Details or to Add Additional Views here".
  2. From the Add View dialog box, choose a Detail Style then click on the Manual Detail... button to create a Detail View of the model.
  3. Give a name to the view in the Manual dialog box > Click on the check mark button > Press Esc to use the current view > select the model > Press Enter.
  4. Once the View is created (Do Not Close The Dialog Box), type on the AutoCAD Command Line: OBSCUREDLTYPE > Set the value to <2>* > Press Enter, then type on the AutoCAD Command Line: HIDE to display the hidden lines.
  5. From the Add View dialog box click on the "2D creation" button to create the 2D view.
  6. Once the 2D View is created, type: HIDE on the AutoCAD Command Line then adjust the AutoCAD LTSCALE to your liking.

A video will be available soon.

* This value can be set to <1> for Solid Lines, <2> for Dashed, <3> for Dotted, <4> for Short Dash, <5> for Medium Dash... and so on. Please consult the AutoCAD Help under OBSCUREDLTYPE for more information.
