Problem Description

I have received an Upgrade for Prosteel V8i for series 4 to be changed to series 6. How do I perform a
Backup of my old version so I can load my settings and work onto the new series 6 version?

Steps to resolve

For migration from ProStructure V8i older SELECT Series to SELECT Series 6, one need to use ProStructure Migration Assistant. Also the V8i SS4 is very old one, so to migrate all necessary elements this Migration Assistant tool is very helpful. Follow the steps below:

1. First of all the V8i SS 6 Prostructure Version need to be installed in the system. E.g Version 08.11.11.15 need to be installed.

2. After successful installation, go to ProStructure > PS Migration Assistant or can type in Command Bar PS_MIGRATE. the ProStructure Migration Assistant  dialog box will open.

3. Select other Installation and from the very top drop down menu select already installed V8i SS4 product. It will automatically display all existing elements which are there in selected series like Templates, Detail Styles, User Blocks, User defined data, Seed files, Materials etc.

4. Now click on  and the migration will start the process. After successful migration it will give the message that all are successfully migrated.

 

Eventually we don't want to migrate the Databases SELECT Series 4 as it is in older status and SELECT Series 6 Databases  contain more accurate Data specially for Bolts.
