Overview

Groups can be used for different reasons. Often used for drawing production to View and detail several parts together at once. We can modify the existing groups and can edit the properties of groups as well. In this wiki, we are going to learn how to create groups.

The tools which is shown in the below image will allow us to make new groups.

Method

1. Create a model in which there are some main parts as well as sub parts are present. See below image.

2. Under Steel workflow, go to Home > Classification > Groups and click on Groups.

3. We are going to make group of columns with base plate. For that make sure to check the boxes as shown in below image. Go to Settings tab in Groups dialog box. This will allow us to do is create multiple tools without actually having to reopen the tool and re-enable the tool each and every time.

4. Now, click on very first button in Group tab to create a group.

5. After clicking on this button, at the bottom in command line it will ask you to select main part (e.g. Column) of group then select sub part (e.g. Baseplate). Here, you can make a group (of Column with baseplate) number of times. Now, click reset button in open area which will end up the cycle, then select OK button in Group dialog box.

Note: to check whether group is created or not go to PS Properties > Group Data and click on Data.
When we click on Data the created group will highlights. See below image.

In this way, we can create groups.
