Problem

While inserting steel shapes form the Shapes tool box, the inserted shapes are created in 2D form and not as 3D objects. How to get the shapes inserted as solid 3D objects ? 

Solution

1) Navigate to the Options tab in the Shapes dialog box and un-check the Insert as 2D Shape option. 



2) Now, one can insert steel shapes by any of the available placement methods and the section will be placed as a solid 3D object in your model.
