Overview

In this wiki, we are going to learn how to set default material for newly inserted shapes.

Method

Please follow the below steps to achieve this.

1. Currently, ‘Undefined’ material is set for the element that we can see in the Shape Properties dialog box under the Data tab. Please see the below image.

2. Open the Global Options, for this hold the right mouse button in the open area and click on the Options.

3. In the Options dialog box, go to the Shape tab and set the required default material for newly inserted shapes in the Material option, then click on the OK button. For example, I have set the material as ‘ASTM A36 Gr. 36’ as shown in the below image.

4. Now, open the Shapes dialog box and insert a new element.

5. Open the Shape Properties of newly inserted shape by double-clicking on the shape or hold the right mouse button and then click on the PS Properties.

6. In the Data tab of Shape Properties dialog box, we can see the default material ‘ASTM A36 Gr. 36’ that we were set in the Global Options.

In this manner, we can set the default required material for newly inserted shapes.
