Overview

Editing of steel structural objects such as stairs, handrails, bracings, etc. can be done by clicking on the system lines of these objects. However, by default, their display is only restricted to the wireframe mode of modelling. But there is a possibility where you can still make these system lines visible in the shaded / other display modes and access the properties for editing these steel objects by clicking on them.

This document will guide you to control the display of these system lines in any display style other than the wireframe.

Method

1) On creation of your steel structural objects, in this case, a vertical bracing, you will see the system lines being displayed by default in the Wireframe Mode.

2) On changing the Display Mode to some other, you will notice that the system lines get lost.

3) To enable the display of these system lines, you need to go to File > Settings > User > Global Settings or in short, directly hold down the right click in an empty space in the model and select the Options

4) Now in the Options dialog box, navigate to Display and ‘tick on’ the Struc. Objects in Shade option and then click on OK.

5) Once this is set, click on Save Settings (Ctrl+F) and your Stairs, Handrails, Purlins & Bracings will now have their controlling System Lines displayed in the shaded mode as well.

In this manner, you can display the system lines for the steel structural objects and then access their properties for editing and modification.
