Getting an Error while positioning assemblies in the model.

Problem

While positioning the assemblies in the model, there are possibilities where user may get an Internal Error as shown in the image below.



In this wiki, we will see the steps which need to be followed to avoid this issue.

Steps to follow

There are two possibilities due to which you may get this error.

A) Make sure that, while modelling, if any part of assembly is misplaced or located somewhere far in the model space which cant be seen and that part is not selected while positioning.

B) The next step which needs to followed as error says ‘No Start number is set for assemblies’, you need to set the start number for assemblies in the positioning options.

Follow the steps below to set the start number for assemblies.

1. Navigate to Positioning tool located under Data/Reporting tab.

2. In the positioning dialog box, under steel positioning, click on the ‘Positioning Options’

3. In the dialog, click on the ‘options’ tab and at the bottom set the start number for assemblies as ‘1’



Now you can position the model. Make sure that above steps are followed, and one will not get any error while positioning the assemblies.
