Overview

When trying to assign a part to a detail style, for example with drag and drop, assignment is not possible.

As it is normally correct to have the style corresponding to the part, there are cases where one does want to overwrite the restriction in Detail Style.

Reason

Red colored Detail Styles are restricted-use styles, they can only be used by the corresponding part type or view type. For example, we can assign only a group to a red colored Group Detail Style, here the a single part won't get assigned to this group detail style.

Steps to be follow

In this example the assembly cannot be assigned to the group style above. Either we need to load a assembly style or unlock the detail style which is in red color.

Please follow the below steps to unlock the group detail style restrictions.

1. Open the Detail Style dialog by right-clicking on detail style and then selecting Edit Style.

2. Left-click on the last button as shown in the below image to unlock the restriction and then click on the OK button.

3. The RED color gets changed to a Grey color.

4. Now, we can assign the assembly drawing to the group detail style.

In this way, we can unlock the restriction and can assign the assembly to a group detail style.
