The User Parts Center allows you to create a database of predefined blocks / assemblies that you can place in your model multiple times without modelling them again and again.
This document will guide you on how to create and insert User Parts while modelling your structure.
1) Create the block or part that you want to include as a User Part. In this case, we have created a Glass Holder by creating an assembly of MicroStation solids.
2) Now got to Utilities > Utilities > User Part Center
3) Similar to Detail Center, User Part Center consists of dialogs which may either be docked on the left or on the right of ProStructures or which may be positioned anywhere on the screen.
4) When the function is loaded, two dialogs are displayed. The dialog on the left only serves for navigation, whereas the dialog on the right serves for selection of the User Parts. Then, all functions are loaded via context menus of the right mouse button, except for the basic settings of User Part Center. These are reached via the tool button on the upper left of navigation dialog.
5) Now to create the user part, first add a folder / create a new folder in which this part would get created.
6) After this, right click on the newly created folder and select Create new User Part option.
7) This will then prompt you to give a name to the new User Part.
8) Then you need to select all the blocks that you want to create the User Part of.
9) You then need to define the base insertion point & ACS for the User Part.
10) The user part will then get created and opened as a separate DGN model in the session.
11) Now, close this file and open the original DGN file in which we were working. Then, move to the User Part Center dialog boxes, in the Navigation box, select the folder and then you will see that the newly created User Part in the preview box.
12) Right click on the part and select Insert User Part and then you will be able to place the part in your model by the base insertion point that you had defined in step no. 9
In this manner, you can model many such complex parts in your drawing and then create them as User Parts once, then use them at multiple places in your model.
