How can I change the Installation and Location values for mutliple symbols or devices at the same time?

Steps to Accomplish

Option 1 - Data Manager

1. Open [[Data Manager]]
2. Select the Device ID tab.
3. Select the rows of the devices that you want to modify. Sorting and filtering the data first can make this easier. Use the SHIFT or CTRL keys along with the mouse to select multiple rows.
4. Enter/change a value for Installation in one of the selected rows, then press Enter. The entered value will be replicated at each selected row.
5. Enter/change a value for Location in one of the selected rows, then press Enter. The entered value will be replicated at each selected row.

Data Manager also has a Find & Replace feature that may be useful for this task.

Option 2 - Insert a temporary Field

1. Select the [[Insert Field]] tool.
2. Draw the field box around the desired symbols on the page and click to select where the field text should be placed.
3. On the Field Parameters dialog that appears, assign the desired Installation and Location values. Set the Rename Inst./Loc. Of Device ID’s to match field check box. Click OK.
4. Select the field box on the page and press Delete.
5. Choose “No” at the “Do you want to rename the installation/location of the symbols in the field?” prompt. The symbols that were in the field box should retain the new installation/location values that were assigned by the Field.

Option 3 - BOM Explorer
