Background

Wiring Manager, introduced in the V8i SELECTseries 7 versions of Promis.e and Bentley Substation, replaces [[Assign/Edit Wire Number]] and [[Forced Routing Manager]]. Wiring Manager is used to assign wire tags (wire numbers), wire properties, and change (force) connections/routing. Click the Help button on the Wiring Manager dialog for more information.

To start the Wiring Manager tool

* is used to denote a menu selection that is not necessary in some versions or platforms.

For Bentley Substation CONNECT Edition

Select 2D Design ribbon tab > Wire Properties group > Wiring Manager
Function key shortcut: F2 > D > WJ
- If the 2D Design ribbon tab is already the active tab: F3 > WJ
Space bar shortcut: SPACE > 8 (Wire Properties g group) > Wiring Manager

V8i SELECTseries 7 and 8

Right-click a logical line (wire) on a page and select Wiring Manager from the context menu.

From the Tasks area select Review/Revise > *Revision Management > Wiring Manager
From the Tasks area select Design > *Wire Numbering > Manual Wire Number then select a wire on the page.

Consider [[Updating and Upgrading Promis.e|upgrading]] your software to the latest version. Use [[Forced Routing Manager]], [[Assign/Edit Wire Number]], and [[Manual Wire Number]] in the meantime.

To assign a wire property that has no column

Right-click any column header and select Column Chooser.
Find the property on the resulting Customization box and double-click it.
Click the red X on the Customization box to close it.
Add value(s) in the newly added columns.

To manually assign a wire number

Click in the Wire Tag column and type the desired value. Click the # button to populate the field with the next available tag. The Wire Installation and Wire Location columns can be added as described above.

Other Tips

Rearrange columns by dragging them. To drag a column, click the column header and hold the mouse button. Move the mouse and release the mouse button when the column header is in the desired position.

Remove columns by right clicking the header of the unwanted column and select Remove This Column.
