How to use different types of Hide tools?

Overview

In this document we are going to learn how to use Hide, Hide Group, Hide Except, Hide Except Group, Hide at Plane and Hide at Plane Except tools. These tools are very beneficial when there is a complex model and you want to work on a particular area, you can simply hide all other parts or hide unwanted parts for easy work.

Steps to be follow

Please follow below steps to use different types of Hide tools.

A] Hide: Selected parts will be hidden after selecting the command. The parts are no longer visible after pressing the <Enter> key or data button. The command “Regenerate” will switch all parts back to visible.

1. Open a model. See below image for example.

2. Under Steel Workflow, go to View > Display Tools and click on “Hide” tool.

3. Or type “Hide” in search bar and then click on Hide tool.

4. After clicking on Hide tool following window opens. Which will ask you to Choose All or Filter.

5. If you click on Choose All the all parts will gets Hidden.

6. Otherwise you can simply click on the part which you want to hide.

7. Or drag the mouse cursor to select multiple parts and click data button in open area to hide those parts. This will just hide the part, it will not erase the parts.

You can do this in a reverse way also by selecting the parts first and then select the Hide tool to hide parts.

In this way, you can hide the parts by using Hide tool.

B] Hide Group: By using this tool you can hide entire group.

1. Open a model.

2. Under Steel Workflow, go to View > Display Tools and go to dropdown of Hide tool and click on “Hide Group” tool.

3. Or type “Hide Group” in search bar and then click on Hide Group tool.

4. Now, click on the group which you want to Hide.

In this way, you can Hide entire group by using Hide Group.

C] Hide Except: This function works opposite to Hide tool. The part which you selected will remain and everything else will be hidden. This function will help you to work on a particular area. To switch all parts back to visible click on Regenerate tool.

1. Open a model.

2. Under Steel Workflow, go to View > Display Tools and go to dropdown of Hide tool and click on “Hide Except” tool.

3. Or type “Hide Except” in search bar and then click on Hide Except tool.

4. After clicking on Hide Except tool, select the parts (by dragging mouse cursor) which you want to keep remain in the model and click data button in open area to hide unselected parts.

In this way, you can select particular area where you want work and make all other parts hidden.

D] Hide Except Group: This function works exactly opposite to Hide Group tool. When we select group all other parts will get hidden and group will remain in the model.

1. Open a model.

2. Under Steel Workflow, go to View > Display Tools and go to dropdown of Hide tool and click on “Hide Except Group” tool.

3. Or type “Hide Except Group” in search bar and then click on Hide Except Group tool.

4. Now, click on the group which you want to keep in the model and hide all other remaining parts.

In this way, we can hide all other parts and keep the particular group in the model by just one click.

E] Hide at Plane: This function works exactly like a Hide tool. But the only difference is that the whole component parts of a workframe plane are get hidden, if you select one particular workframe plane.

1. Open a model.

2. Under Steel Workflow, go to View > Display Tools and go to dropdown of Hide tool and click on “Hide at Plane” tool.

3. Or type “Hide at Plane” in search bar and then click on Hide at Plane tool.

4. Now select the required workframe plane, this will hide the parts on that particular workframe plane. See below image.

In this way, we can hide the parts on particular plane by using Hide at Plane tool.

F] Hide at Plane Except: This function works exactly like a Hide Except tool. But the only difference is that the whole component parts of a workframe plane will remain visible, if you select one particular workframe plane.

1. Open a model.

2. Under Steel Workflow, go to View > Display Tools and go to dropdown of Hide tool and click on “Hide at Plane Except” tool.

3. Or type “Hide at Plane Except” in search bar and then click on Hide at Plane Except tool.

4. Now select the required workframe plane to make visible the parts on that particular plane and hides all other parts. See below image.

In this way, we can hide all unwanted parts and make visible the parts on particular required plane by using Hide at Plane Except.

Like this we can use these all different types Hide tool to make work easier.
