In ProSteel/ProStructures you can set how the component part should be displayed. This can be done from the ProSteel options so that when a shape is inserted it will automatically get the settings. By default the shapes are set to Modeller.
Difference between Modeller and ACIS/Solid Kernel
Modeller The component part is displayed by means of the facet-modeler. Normally, the software independently decides when the modeler has to be used for depiction. However, you can explicitly define it using this
option. If the modeler has to be used, you cannot switch it off.
Acis/Solid Kernel The ACIS-modeler is used for depiction instead of the facet-modeler. ACIS is much slower but more precise than the facet-modeler. Please note that it is not possible to mix ACIS- and facet-modeler volume
models.
Note: We do recommend that ACIS should only be use for Bent, Arc plates and Rolled sections. This is because it is more precise but it can slows down the program in Detailing. However just in case user would like to change the default settings below are the procedure on how to do this.
Note:
ACIS = SOLID KERNEL for SS4 and SS5 onwards
1. In the ProSteel options, Go to Options > Dialog Settings > Expert Mode set to EXPERT
2. Under the options tab, check the options in the box.
3. Now, right click on any element and click on the PS properties and you will see that modeler and solid kernel these options are enabled.
