Overview
While modelling, it is very important to check for clashes before drawing preparation. In ProSteel, you can use the ‘Collision Detection’ tool to assess the model and display any collisions highlighting the parts in question. The check is based on the volume of the parts. You can also check if bolts can be mounted or not.
This document will guide you on how set the collision checking parameters and run the Collision Detection.
Method
1) After modelling, Navigate to Steel > Utilities > Utilities > Collision detection and click on that tool.
2) This will open the ‘Collision Check’ dialog box. Here, in the ‘Values’ tab, you can set the minimal collision volume in the ‘Min. volume’ section. You can also set a ‘Display scaling’ to emphasize on the colliding parts.
3) In the ‘Options’ tab, you can specify which component parts have to be checked against each other. A filter is available for the selection of the parts to be checked.
4) Once all the settings are in place, click on the ‘Check select parts for collision’ button. This will then run the check against the model with regards to your set parameters in the ‘Collision Check’ dialog box.
5) Once the check is completed, the colliding parts will be greyed out and the colliding section will be highlighted in pink.
NOTE – Required time increases with size of the model. Hence, it is recommended to check only a certain part of a model at a particular time.
In this manner, you can check for collisions in your model and then modify the concerned member to resolve your clashes.
