Couple of times, users generate the short shapes from the Detail Center and they manually dimension those shapes. But, in result they get shortened dimension of the shape and not the actual dimensions.
This wiki will guide to how to place manual dimensions in such cases.
1. While adding the manual dimensions to shortened shapes, the important step here is to use ProSteel Dimensions instead of MS dimensions.
2. Once you place the drawing, navigate to ProSteel Dimensions located under Drawing Productions>Dimensioning>Dimensions
3. The measured dialog box will open. As we are adding single dimension, keep alignment ‘As Part’ , assign ‘Select ‘ options for association with object. Also, uncheck the ‘Do not Scale Parts’ and set proper detail style used and scale according detail style.
4. After applying these settings, click on add single dimension options as shown in the image above. (step 5 from image)
5. Select the element, add dimension points, and place the dimension. Using this ProSteel dimension will give real length and other dimensions.
In this way, one must use ‘ProSteel Dimensions’ for manual dimensioning instead of other dimensioning methods especially for shortened shapes generated from Detail Center.
