How to increase the Detailing Symbol Size in Sheet Model?

Overview

This document is going to explain, how to increase Detailing Symbol size. So that it will look bigger in the sheet model. This can be done by manipulating the ProStructureDetailingSymbolStyles.dgnlib file, which is located at “C:\Program Files\Bentley\ProStructures CONNECT Edition\ProStructures\Default\Dgnlib\DrawComp”

Method

To increase the Detailing Symbol size, you need to manipulate the default dgnlib file so that it will reflect in your sheet.

Follow the below steps to increase the Detailing Symbol size:

1.  Go to Backstage File > Settings > Configuration and click on Configuration Variables.



2. Or Search Configuration variables in Search Ribbon and then click on it.



3. After clicking, Configuration Variables dialog box will open.  

4. Type dgnlib in search bar and open the path as highlighted in the below figure.



5. Now, copy the ProStructureDetailingSymbolStyles.dgnlib and paste on your desktop.
This is because the files in the ‘Program Files’ are Write protected, so you cannot change anything in any file. Cut and paste the same default file somewhere else for backup.

6. Open ProStructures MicroStation CONNECT Edition and browse the ProStructureDetailingSymbolStyles.dgnlib copied file.



7. In Active View Group open the ProConcrete_DrawingTitleBubble Views.



8. Now, Select circle, hold reset button and use scale option.

9. In scale dialog box, set Method to 3 points and Proportional should be enabled.

10. Enter the origin point as a center point, take first reference point on the circumference of the circle along X axis and take second reference point outside the circle to increase the size of circle of required diameter. At last stretch the horizontal line.



11. To increase the text size, double click on the text ‘DRAWING IDENTIFIER’. Follow the steps shown in below figure. Set the required height and width for text.



12. Now, Save the file and Close the application. Go to the desktop, cut or copy the ProStructureDetailingSymbolStyles.dgnlib file and paste in the same location from where we copied.

13. Open your model. Go to sheet and open the properties of the symbol.

14. In Annotation > Detailing Symbol Style  change from default to ProConcreteDetailSymbol.
After changing the annotation from default to ProConcreteDetailSymbol the size of the Detailing Symbol will get increased. See below image.



In this way, you can increase the size of Detailing Symbol.
