While modelling in the Concrete environment, you may need to create some irregular concrete shapes other than the ones provided as standard ProConcrete shapes. In this scenario, you can create a MicroStation solid element and then add Concrete part properties to it by using the Concrete Solid Overlay tool.
This document will guide you on how to convert any MicroStation solid shape to a ProStructures Concrete shape that will include ProStructure Properties.
Please follow the below steps -
1) Create a MicroStation solid in your required shape. In this case we have created a shape of concrete combined stepped footing.
2) Now go to Concrete > Home > Concrete Placement > Concrete Solid Overlay and click on that tool.
3) Now it will prompt you to ‘Select Solid for Concrete Solid Overlay’ where in you need to select the MicroStation Solid that you want to convert to ProStructures Concrete element.
4) After this step, it will then prompt you to pick points to define X-axis and XY plane.
Alternatively, you can right click and escape and the axes will be defined as in the view.
5) On completion of this step, the ‘Concrete Solid Reference Properties’ dialog box opens, wherein you can give a name to the object and define the concrete grade for it, set various parameters and then say OK.
6) Now the MicroStation solid object has been converted to a ProStructures Concrete Element with all the PS Properties.
In this manner, you can create a concrete element of any shape and the same can be given ProStructures Properties and Partlist information by the Concrete Solid Overlay tool.
