Overview

When modelling complex concrete structures, you may need to create monolithic slab-beam members based on design requirements or various other factors. If you have already modelled your beams with the reinforcements, you can easily adjust the depth of the beams by using the ‘Add Setdown to Beam’ tool.

This document will guide you on how adjust the depth for monolithic slab-beam members without affecting the reinforcement created in place.

Method

1) Select the ‘Add Setdown to Beam’ tool from the toolbar in the ‘Home’ tab of the ‘Concrete’ Workflow.

2) After this, in the ‘Set Down’ dialog box, enter the value that needs to reduced from the total depth of the beam OR the depth of the monolithic slab with which the beam would be casted.

3) Once the value is set, click on the ‘Selection’ button and select the beams whose depth needs to be reduced.

NOTE : For multiple selection, hold the CTRL key and select the members.

4) On completion, the selected beam/s will be automatically resized with the Set Down dimension applied to the concrete shape.

NOTE : The set down i.e. reduction in depth, will only modify the concrete shape and not affect the reinforcement. Thus, maintaining the effective depth.
