How to Create Configuration Setting Blocks for linking with ProjectWise Managed WorkSpace for Projec

Background:

This document can be refer for creating Configuration Settings Block (CSB's) in ProjectWise Administrator for OpenUtilities(OU) Managed WorkSpace. There are three main CSB that are required by OU Substation which are as below. And then Linking there CSB to Work Areas. 

1. Predefined level CSB called Substation_CE_Configuration.
2. Global level CSB called Substation_CE_Global_Config_Variables.
3. Workset/Project level CSB called Substation_CE_Workset_Link


Steps to Accomplish

Create a Predefined level CSB called Substation_CE_Configuration 

This CSB defines the location of the folder in ProjectWise that contains the entire Managed WorkSpace.

1. In ProjectWise Administrator, expand WorkSpaces > Managed then Right-click the Predefined level and select New > Configuration Block.


2. In the New CSB dialog specify the Name of the of the CSB "Substation_CE_Configuration" and specify any Descriptions and select Apply.




3. Now click Configuration tab, click "+" and select Add Variable



4. In the New Variable Dialog specify Name as "_USTN_CONFIGURATION", specify the description. check the Locked checkbox and click Add.  




5. In the Edit Value dialog set the Operator Type as "=" - Assignment >> select the Value Type as ProjectWise Folder and use the browse button to select the WorkSpace folder into which the Managed WorkSpace have been imported and select Ok.



6. Click Ok on New Variable dialog. 




7. Click Ok on the Substation_CE_Configuration Properties dialog. 




Create a Global level CSB called Substation_CE_Global_Config_Variables

This CSB displays all the system level configuration variables and is useful for administrator during testing and debugging. 

1. In ProjectWise Administrator, expand WorkSpaces > Managed then Right-click the Global level and select New > Configuration Block.




2. In the New CSB dialog specify the Name of the of the CSB "Substation_CE_Global_Config_Variables" and specify any Descriptions and select Apply.





3. Now click Configuration tab, click "+" and select Add Variable




4. In the New Variable Dialog specify Name as "_USTN_DISPLAYALLCFGVARS", specify the description. check the Locked checkbox and click Add.  




5. In the Edit Value dialog set the Operator Type as "=" - Assignment >> select the Value Type as String and specify value as "1Ok.




6. Click Ok on New Variable dialog. 




7. Click Ok on the Substation_CE_Blobal_Config_Variable Properties dialog. 





Create Workset/Project level CSB called Substation_CE_Workset_Link

1. In ProjectWise Administrator, expand WorkSpaces > Managed then Right-click the WorkSet/Project level and select New > Configuration Block



2. In the New CSB dialog specify the Name of the of the CSB "Substation_CE_Workset_Link" and specify any Descriptions and select Apply.



3. Now click Configuration tab, click "+" and select Add Directive





4. In the New Variable Dialog set Directive as %include specify the description and click Add.  




5. In the Edit Value dialog set the Value Type as String >> Specify Value as $(dms_project(_dgndir))Substation_Workspace.cfg and click Ok.



6. Click Ok on New Variable dialog. 


7. Click Ok on the ubstation_CE_Workset_Link Properties dialog. 




Steps to Link CSBs to Work Areas

1. To CSB’s to Default Startup Project. Locate the designated Default Startup Project created after importing the Managed WorkSpace. Refer the Step 2: Create Default Startup Project, from below Wiki Link for more details.

2. Right Click on the Default Startup Project >> WorkSpace >> select WorkSpace Type as Managed >> to assign the CSBs Right Click on each CSB and then choose the Add Association. Select the CSB created in the earlier section of this Wiki Article. 




3. Select OK to complete the CSB assignment for default startup project. 


4. Repeat the above steps from 1 to 3, for Default Work Areas for OU Substation. You can Refer the "Step 3: Designate Default Work Area for OpenUtilities Substation Projects" from below Wiki Link for the details on Default Work Area.
