When modelling steel structures, the plan may have a truss to be inserted at various positions in the model, to bear the axial forces that it is intended to incur. Practically, it is very tedious and a cumbersome task to individually create the assembly for the truss structure. Hence, in ProSteel, you can use the Truss tool to create and control the design, orientation and size of the members of the truss conveniently.
This document will guide you on how to create, place and control the insertion of Truss.
1) Now go to Steel > Home > Structural Objects > Truss and click on that tool.
2) Now it will prompt you to pick the left & right insertion points for the truss.
3) The truss now gets placed at the user defined point and the ‘Truss’ dialog box gets opened.
4) In the ‘Shapes’ tab, you can control the type class and sizes of the members od the top chord, bottom chord, vertical & diagonal members.
5) In the ‘Distances’ tab, you can control the spacing between the members in the truss assembly.
6) In the ‘Assignment’ tab, you can set various classes and identifications to the created truss for sorting purposes.
7) After Clicking on OK, the Truss is now placed.
8) Also, if you want to create a parallel Truss, you need to have the Roof Angle as zero, and the 'Height' & 'Side Height' as same.
9) This will then create the Truss without a slope and will give a parallel Truss.
In this manner, you can easily create a Truss and save the setting of this assembly as a template and recall the same at any places in the model with ease, reducing the modelling time.
