Modelling in the steel environments may require creation & placement of various types of structures like trusses, purlins, catwalks or funnels. Creation of plate funnels becomes very cumbersome when it needs to be modelled at many places in a model. In this scenario, you can use the ‘Plate Funnel’ tool that will create funnels with reduced number of keystrokes and will give better control over the plates used for creation of funnel and other funnel parameters.
This document will guide you on how to create, place and control the insertion of Plate Funnels.
1) Now go to Steel > Home > Structural Objects > Plate Funnel and click on that tool.
2) Now it will prompt you to select an insertion point for the funnel in the model space.
3) The plate funnel now gets placed at the user defined point and the ‘Plate Funnel’ dialog box gets opened.
4) In the ‘Dimensions’ tab, you can control the layout and size of the plates along with the insertion & position.
5) In the ‘Assignment’ tab, you can set various classes and identifications to the created funnel for sorting purposes.
6) After Clicking on OK, the Plate Funnel is now placed.
In this manner, you can easily create a Plate Funnel and save the setting of this funnel as a template and then create similar types of funnels at many places in the model with ease, reducing the modelling time.
