Problem

There are cases where while working with 2D drawings, users require the manual positions of dimensions, position flags and weld flags etc. So, they want to prevent updating of these objects when working with Detail Center.

This wiki will show you how to use option ‘Update Protection’ which will lock the selected elements in 2D and hence which will prevent them from updating.

Method

1.  To turn on the update protection, under steel workflow, navigate to the ‘Detail Center Standard’ under drawing production tab.




2. Then, in the Detail Center, under the Parts tab, right click on the ‘Model’ as shown and click on ‘Update protection’ option.



3. The ‘update Protection dialog box will open. In this dialog box, you can apply filter to the objects such as elevation flags, position flags, weld flags and dimensions etc.



4. The objects to which selection filter is applied will be locked and protected from updating.



In this way, one can protect the displacement of manually placed objects and dimensions.
