Issues placing Conductor on 3D Cable symbols where the Couplers cannot be placed correctly in OpenUt

Background:

This article is about a BUG which has been fixed. The BUG was if a 3D Cable symbol was saved with "Shared Cell". BUG#884530. This issue was fixed in OpenUtilities Substation U13. 

The issue that the user face is that when they are trying to place Conductor Accessories Cable Clamps, Couplers, BUS Couplers, BUS Supports etc. on Conductors using the Cable Method the were not able to place the symbols correctly. This would happen due to two reasons. 

1. Already Placed Cables/BUS . 
 

2. Inserting New Cables/ BUS in Model. 

Steps to Accomplish


1. Already Placed Bus. 

This steps needs to be followed when the issue can only be seen with Cables which has been already placed and when a new cable is placed from using symbol from the Catalog with name name the issue cannot be reproduced. 


1. Open the 3D layout page where the cable is located. 


2. Select the Cable and Right Click >> Properties.




3. In the Properties dialog select Cell: "Symbol Name" >> Cell " Symbol Name" >> Bspline Curve. Then change the level to  "TDS_VARSYMBOL_BASELINE".







2. Inserting New Cables/ BUS in Model

This method needs to be followed if the user are facing the issue after placing a new Cable in 3D Layout mode. 

1. Click on Manage >> Create Symbol





2. Select "Modify Existing Symbol" in Step 1 and select the 3D Cable symbol using which the issue is being faced. Click next until the 3D Cable symbol visualization is opened.





3. Click on the Cable and right click Properties. Check if the properties displays it as Shared Cell under elements. 




4. Click 3D Design >> Drop Elements >> check all the options >> select the 3D Cable symbol by using Left Mouse Click.
