How to configure and Map the "Non Coded" Parts Database Attribute in OpenUtilities Substation

Background:

User might have a requirement where they need to Create a Custom Part in a Projects which is unique to the project. But some of these Custom Parts might have details which are common for all Custom Parts used in different project or the user may need a Template where pre populated information is present which the user can use or modify according to requirement after inserting the record in the project. Such Part Number whose details are or template is stored in Parts Database are known as "Non Coded" parts.

In this article will help users configure the Parts Database Attribute mapping and then include then add it to the Parts Database Manager dialog.

Steps to Accomplish

1. In the project Manager click on Project Options >> BOM Manager Setting under System Options >> Part Settings.



2. Under the Parts Attribute Mapping select the Parts Database column that needs to be mapped for the Non Coded part. Select any column from User 1 to User 45 provided that its not already been used for some other attribute already and click Apply.




3. Now edit the Parts Database Mapping to include the Parts Database column for Non Coded part. in Project Manager select Configuration Variables >> select Parts Database Name drop down >> Configure Parts Database >> Edit the Parts Database that is being used.




4. In the Edit Parts Database dialog select Next on the initial screen. Then in the list of columns select the one that was configured in Step 2.  Specify the Internal Name same as Name ( in above example its "user30"). Then specify the Display Name which will be visible to the user in the Parts Database Manager. Select the Category from the drop down list as "Part Data" and click Finish. Click on OK in the Configuration Variable dialog to complete the change.





5. Open any project page and go to Manage >> Parts Database Manager >> Customize Layout.





6. In the Customization dialog select "Layout Tree View" and browse to the bottom of the list to "Unmapped Fields". Then Drag and Drop the Attribute field on the Parts Database Manager dialog. Then close the Parts Database Manager and select "Yes" in the pop up dialog to save the configuration.
