 To create new View Arrangement Definition (VAD) File in OpenPlant Orthographics Manager.

Background

In OpenPlant Orthographics Manager, User needs to create View Arrangement Definition file first to generate OpenPlant Orthographics Manager’s output drawing.

Steps to Accomplish

  1. Launch OpenPlant Orthographics Manager and select already created project

  2. Go to Drawing Generation -- Create View



  3. Press “Create a new view arrangement definition (VAD) File” button to define new file name



  4. Define “Name” in “Specify new VAD file name dialog” and press “OK”



  5. Define “View Name” in Create View arrangement definition file creation window say “Top”



  6. Press “+” button in Referenced Model to “Add a reference model”



  7. Select a single referenced file or multiple files using Cntrl or Shift key and press “OK” to “Add Reference” dialog



  8. Model file(s) must be shown in “Referenced Models” section



  9. Go to “3D Clipping Area” tab of view arrangement definition file creation window

  10. Select direction “Top” from Direction drop down menu and press “View referenced model” button



  11. Referenced Model(s) will open in OpenPlant Orthographics manager



  12. Fill Position X,Y,Z co-ordinates manually or see below steps to fill them using “Pick Area” option

  13. Select Pick Area button [Step. 10 must be done before doing this]



  14. Select two points in model to fill X,Y co-ordinates values



  15. X,Y position values for First and Second Points must get filled



  16.  Fill Elevation values manually for Top direction say Min Z as -50000 and Max Z as 50000



  17. Select “Check Area” button to see all required components are corrected covered in selected Position (Make sure referenced models opened at back end in same direction in which View Arrangement definition file being created)



  18. Rotate the model to see all components correctly shown in check box



  19. Switch to “View Output Position” tab

  20. In Position field, input X,Y co-ordinates manually which will indicate where the lower left corner of the defined view will be placed in the 2D drawing. You can also pick the lower left position in the 2D drawing if you have the border drawing open. Follow below steps to pick points in drawing.

  21. Select “View Border” button in “View Output Position” tab



  22. Once Border file gets loaded, Select “Pick lower left point” button (user will be redirected to opened border file on clicking this button)



  23. Single click in border file to select lower left point. It will pick X,Y co-ordinates



  24. Select a “Scale” for the view from the drop down list say 1/50. This scale determines how much the model is reduced when the output drawing is generated.

  25. Select a Rotation angle from the list (0, 90, 180, 270), if you wish to rotate the view in the 2D drawing.

  26. Switch to “Match Line and View Information” tab, enter the information you want displayed on the 2D output drawing in the fields provided.(this is not mandatory step to create new view arrangement definition file)

  27. Enter some value in “View Information” box say write “Top View”, Select “Scale” (it will show Step24 Scale value in output drawing)  from drop down, Fill Match Line data (for Top direction East, West, North, South) values will be shown in output)



  28. Once done, press “Save” button to save new view arrangement definition file



  29. Once saved, “View Name” of New View Arrangement Definition file will be shown in “View Names” box and Referenced models used to create new file will be shown in  “All Referenced Models” box



  30. Go to OpenPlant Orthographics manager project directory and open “VAD” folder and see newly create file must reside there “C:\ProgramData\Bentley\OrthographicsManager V8i\WorkSpace\Projects\[Project Name]\VAD”
