Overview

There must be always a certain value of edge distance or border offset which need to follow while putting drills in shapes or plates. And this value differs with the hole diameter.

In ProSteel we have the option in Drill tool to verify if the Border offset is correct or not. The system will check the edge distance according to the hole diameter. This document will explain how to activate that option and then to check whether the placed drill is maintained according the correct Edge distance.

Method

To achieve this please follow the below steps

  1. Open the ProSteel options and switch to the Expert mode

  2. Go to Drill under Steel Workflow > Home > Edit Steel Elements

  3. Now in ProSteel Drill Dialog, you will find one extra Tab as "border offsets" and one new button   which will allow you to control and to verify if the Edge distance or Border offset is correct or not

  4. The new button   will allow to edit the Hole Diameter table where as Border Offsets tab allow you to verify whether the offset is correct or not.

  5. Click on the Border Offset tab where you can see the offset value corresponding to specific diameter.

  6.  (a) - Table shows the offset value of corresponding diameter. E.g. for 20 Dia hole minimum Border offset should be 40 mm.
     (b) - Clicking this one, will tell if the offset is correct or not
     (c) - Clicking this one, will clear whatever offset is there or in other words this will ignore the value.
