To Show Plant Area in Tag Name For Equipment

Overview

To show plant area property name in tag name for equipment. By default, name format for equipment is Device Type Code-Number.


Problem Description

User wants to show plant area in Equipment name as a format of Device Type Code-Number-Plant Area

Steps to Resolve

  1. Launch Bentley Class Editor.

  2. Open OpenPlant workspace schema (OpenPlant01.07.ecschema) and click Open.

  3. In Class Editor, right click on OpenPlant, select Supplement Schema.



  4. Supplement with OpenPlant_Supplemental_Tagging of your particular project here metric project.

    C:\ProgramData\Bentley\OpenPlantModelerV8i\WorkSpace\Projects\OPModeler_Metric\DataSet\Schemas



  5. Search Equipment Class, switch to Properties Pane.

  6. From right hand pane click on Add > New to add a new property.



  7. Enter the property name as SHOW_AREA as shown.



  8. Right Click on newly created property SHOW_AREA name from drop down select Custom Attribute > Add/Remove to add custom attribute.



  9. Add CalculatedECProperty Specification custom attribute and change location to OpenPlant_Supplemental_Tagging as shown.



  10. Click on OK.

  11. Scroll down and find Calculated ECProperty Specification and enter the fields as shown.



  12.  For equipment class in properties tab find property name “NAME”.

  13. Scroll down and find Calculated ECProperty Specification.

  14. Change the ECExpression as shown below.



  15. Save the changes and verify the result.

  16. Launch OpenPlant Modeler, create Unit, Service and Plant Area for equipment.



  17. Place an equipment notice the Tag name contains the Plant Area name and in format of Device Type Code-Number-Plant Area.
