Overview

To add Plate Type Flange in OpenPlant Modeler.

Problem Description

In OpenPlant Modeler, requirement is to add Plate type flange class in schema and to display it inside bill of material. Below steps will aid user to customize schema inside Modeler. Here Slip on Flange is considered as a base class, to allow user to place this class through it using its icon and cell & scripts inside OpenPlant Modeler.

Steps to Resolve

  1. In Class Editor, Open “OpenPlant_3D.01.07.ecschema” & supplement it with below schemas.
    OpenPlant_3D_Supplemental_Modeling.01.07.ecschema
    OpenPlant_3D_Supplemental_ModelingViews.01.07.ecschema
    OpenPlant_3D_Supplemental_Information_3DComponent.01.07.ecschema
    OpenPlant_3D_Supplemental_Isometrics_Isoextractor.01.07.ecschema

Note - On Adding & Supplementing schema procedure refer this>>>>> Link.

  2. Navigate to Slip On Flange class. Right click to Copy it.

  3. Paste it on PIPE_FLANGE class.

  4. Rename it as desired, say PLATE_FLANGE. See image below.

  5. Copying Classes would benefit to add other related custom attributes and properties automatically. This will also include the custom attribute from supplemented schema.
  6. Add custom attribute OpenPlant _Physical_Placeable_Child_Classes on Slip On Flange class to allow user to call new class using its icon inside OpenPlant Modeler.

  7. Add entries in spec. Here Plate details are as below.

    2. Also in case of selecting Slip On Flange type SETBACK plays an important role. Ensure COMP_LEN equal to SETBACK and both should be higher than FLNG_TH_M value. See image below

  8. Save & close all files.
  9. Launch OpenPlant Modeler & Verify results.
  10. Click on Flange. Select plate flange from dialog box. The drop down option activated because of custom attribute used in step 6 above.

  11. Check details.

  12. Check output in OpenPlant Isometrics Manager.

  13. Check output in DGN Reporting. BOM by Line Number, in a grid view.
