How to Customize the Quick Access ToolBar Icons in OpenComms Designer

OpenComms Designer provides a Quick Access ToolBar that is easily customized, to place a user’s most often-used commands in one location for convenience. This Quick Access Toolbar remains set from session to session, and also regardless of which Ribbon or Workflow is active. This document will detail how to place some of the common commands that a user may frequently need to use on this toolbar.

Select the dropdown arrow on the end of the Quick Access Toolbar and select ‘Customize Quick Access Toolbar’:

This displays the Customize Ribbon dialog. In the right-hand window, select the unwanted existing commands found in the Quick Access Toolbar and click ‘Remove’ to take these commands out of the Toolbar:

After the unwanted existing commands have been selected and removed, their icon will have a line through it and be marked pending:

Individual commands that are found in the ‘Buttons’ list in the Components dialog can be selected and added to the QUICK ACCESS TOOLBAR:

In this document, we’ll be adding some Spatial Tools commands, a Fence Tools dropdown, a Cell dropdown, and a Place/Edit Text toolbox. Each user can have their own customized QUICK ACCESS TOOLBAR. Highlight a command button from the middle list, and then click Add to add it to the QUICK ACCESS TOOLBAR. The order of these commands is easily adjusted by selecting a command, and then using the Move Up arrow at the top of the dialog to move a command up in the list:

After all the desired commands from the Buttons list have been added, click Apply at the bottom of the dialog to add them to your QUICK ACCESS TOOLBAR on the Ribbon:

Select the dropdown on the right side of the Buttons tab to reveal the ToolBoxes (Application) icon and select it:

Drill down in the list of Toolboxes to find the Fence toolbox. Without collapsing the arrow, highlight Fence and click Add.

The Toolboxes have to be added one at a time, so click Apply after adding the Fence toolbox. After the Fence toolbox has been added, select the Cells toolbox in the middle dialog, add it, and then click Apply. Finally, select the Text toolbox from the middle, and add it to the QUICK ACCESS TOOLBAR. The Customize Ribbon dialog should look similar to this:

The resulting QUICK ACCESS TOOLBAR will display, with the dropdown arrow next to the Fence Tools, Cell Tools, and Text Tools:

Clicking on the dropdown on one of those toolboxes will display a menu like these:

Fence Tools

Place/Edit Text Tools
