Running EDConfiguration for WorkFlow Manager in OpenComms Designer

Using Windows Explorer, browse to the C:\Program Files\Bentley\Communications CONNECT Edition\OpenCommsDesigner folder and locate the EDConfiguration.exe file,

Right click on it and run as administrator. The following dialog will open:

NOTE: Only populate the User Name and Password values if Single Sign On is being used. If Single Sign On is not being used, the DB Connection page should remain blank.

  1. If Single Sign On is being used, enter BUDUSER (or your SSO user name) for the User Name and the ‘single sign on’ user password on the DB Connection page.
  2. Select the Application Path tab and click yes to apply and yes to save the changes.
  3. On the Application Path tab, click the ellipsis next to the Directory Path and drill to the OpenCommsDesigner folder and select OK:

        4. When the path is correctly populated in the Directory Path box, select the Settings tab at the top and say yes to apply and yes to save the changes.

        5. On the Settings tab, be sure the Design Path variable at the bottom points to the DGN folder of the Comms project (with a trailing backslash).

For this example, it would be:

  C:\ProgramData\Bentley\Communications CONNECT Edition\Configuration\WorkSpaces\ CommunicationsSpatial\WorkSets\COMMSTOWNSPATIAL\dgn\

NOTE: Under User Settings determine whether the user will be logged in to WorkFlow Manager using their Connection Client credentials or their Windows logon credentials—check the appropriate box.

      6. Use the Select Path button to drill to the correct location if necessary—place the trailing backslash after the dgn folder.

After the Design Path is populated correctly, click OK and Save any changes that were made.

      7. Finally, select the ED Comms Spatial tab and fill in the Password for the database user (focus) and enter a Password for the Staging User in the bottom box (chadmin).

       8. After entering the two passwords, click the Connect button—it should gray out if the connection works. Click OK to accept the changes and close the Workflow Manager Configuration dialog.

       9. After running EDConfiguration.exe as administrator, and saving the changes, open the ODBC connection dialog and remove the BUDUSER/focus from the CHDATA connection.

(This is only required for running EDConfiguration and can be removed after running it.)
