The below information are valid both for CUBE 6.4.x and for CUBE 6.5.x, with distinction, where necessary, between the different licensing systems.
After installing CUBE, check if your Data Manager is working by opening CUBE and look for a white cylinder like this, in the top left corner:
In case it’s not there, click on the drop down menu and select Data Manager:
If the cylinder is not clickable / greyed out then please follow the troubleshooting procedure below. Note that text editor will also not be working for CUBE 6.4.x, with error message "Unable to open the text editor" when trying to open it.
It is possible to re-install the software without GIS functionalities, if they are not needed, to solve the text editor problem.
1. If ArcGIS Desktop software or an existing version of ArcGIS Engine was previously installed in your machine, please check compatibility between your CUBE installation and the supported version of ArcGIS in your machine by looking at the CUBE Base Release Summary ("C:\Program Files (x86)\Citilabs\Cube\RS_CUBEBASE.PDF") or looking at the table below:
Cube 6.0.2 | ArcGIS version 9.3 through 10.0 |
Cube 6.1.0 SP 1 | ArcGIS version 9.3 through 10.1 |
Cube 6.1.1 | ArcGIS version 9.3 through 10.2.2 |
Cube 6.4.0 | ArcGIS version 9.3 through 10.3 |
Cube 6.4.1 | ArcGIS version 9.3 through 10.3.1 |
Cube 6.4.2 | ArcGIS version 9.3 through 10.4.x |
Cube 6.4.3 | ArcGIS version 9.3 through 10.5.x |
Cube 6.4.4 | ArcGIS version 9.3 through 10.6.x |
Cube 6.4.5 | ArcGIS version 9.3 through 10.6.x |
CUBE CE v6.5.0 | ArcGIS version 9.3 through 10.8.1 |
CUBE CE v6.5.1 | ArcGIS version 9.3 through 10.8.2 |
Note: ArcGIS Pro is a different product that can be installed together with ArcGIS Desktop or Engine. Therefore, there should be no compatibility problems with CUBE software as long as the ArcGIS Desktop or Engine installation is compatible with the CUBE installation.
Before installing a new version of ArcGIS Desktop, you should uninstall CUBE and the ArcGIS Engine that came with it (if installed). If instead, you already installed a new version of ArcGIS Desktop with CUBE already installed, you should make sure to re-install CUBE on top of it.
If the installations are not compatible you should have seen a message like the below during the installation, then please upgrade the installation of CUBE or downgrade the one of ArcGIS (re-install ArcGIS first, then re-install CUBE).
2. If ArcGIS Desktop or an existing version of ArcGIS Engine was not already installed in your machine, then you should check that ArcGIS Engine is correctly installed and activated.
2.1. Check your ArcGIS administrator licence:
2.2. For Cube version 6.4.x please open Citilabs License Manager and try to Activate ArcGIS Engine like in the screenshot below:
2.3 Check your ArcGIS licence checkout order by opening CUBE and clicking on...
...and making sure that ‘ArcGIS Engine’ is at the top of the checkout order:
2.4 Try to run Cube with full admin rights on your machine, and opening Cube by selecting "run as administrator", if this works, ask your IT to provide you with additional authorizations: put the user logon into the administrators group, then give the users the necessary rights to all the Citilabs folders.
2.5 If the data manager is still greyed out, please try to proceed with a clean reinstallation of the software.
If you still have problems, please file a Service Request at connect.bentley.com selecting Technical Support for the product CUBE.
